About Boot: Roland “Boot” Boutwell, a freelance itinerant naturalist, has been leading nature walks for The Friends of the Fells for nearly 25 years. He has also led walks and/or taught botany programs for a number of other organizations including The Trustees of Reservations, Arlington Community Education, The Massachusetts Association of Conservation Commissions, Winchester public schools, Wright-Locke Farm in Winchester, The New England Wild Flower Society and the Massachusetts Audubon Society.

About the Hike: Join Boot Boutwell on a walk in search of early autumn wildflowers and fruits. We’ll stroll through the forest, a small meadow and along a wetland. The walk will focus on plant identification and natural history, and will include a seasonal poem as well as a couple of readings about the plants we see. Preference will be given to people who have never been on a “Boot walk” before. Steady rain postpones.
