E-Textiles: Light Up Felt Masks

By Utah STEM Action Center

Overview

Join us at the Chase Home to create light-up felt masks using LEDs, conductive thread, and textiles!

Join us October 18 from 2-4:00 PM at the Chase House to design and wire your own light-up costume mask!

---------------------------------------------

Minimum Age: 8. Participants under 14 must attend with a responsible adult.

Maximum Age: None

Prerequisites: Participants should have basic fine motor skills.

Summary: Join us in partnership with the Chase Home Museum of Utah Folk Arts as we pair STEM with art to create light-up felt masks! During this workshop, participants will learn about circuits and use conductive thread to create a pathway that will illuminate LEDs on a felt mask. After building the circuit, participants will have plenty of time to further design and decorate their new masks. Perfect for participants interested in costuming, or wanting to build the perfect outfit for spooky season!

Directions: The Chase Home Museum is located in the middle of Liberty Park in Salt Lake City, Utah. To visit, enter the park from either 900 South or 1300 South and follow the signs to parking lots near the center of the park. From each parking lot, there are sidewalks leading to the museum.
