“Dyslexia 101 Unpacked: Building Awareness and Action in Education”

This interactive training will guide LOUISIANA educators on exploring essential topics, including Understanding the Basics of Dyslexia; exploring Related Disabilities: Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia; taking a Dyslexia Empathy Journey: Understanding the student experience; reviewing Screening, Evaluation, and Diagnosis of Dyslexia; reviewing Targeted Interventions; supporting Dyslexia in Special Education; identifying Dyslexia Professionals: Licensure and certifications; identifying standards of Accountability: Laws, policies, and guidance; and helping to connect the critical need for Home-School Partnerships and family engagement.

By deepening understanding and breaking down misconceptions, this session empowers educators to take actionable steps toward more equitable literacy instruction. Understanding that change begins at the Tier I level, dyslexia’s role in general education and its placement within the MTSS framework is critical for implementation of this knowledge. Leveraging leadership and collaboration, participants will leave with practical strategies for decision-making in classrooms and school communities.
