DVC Pop Presents Closing Shift with Chaos Theory The Hummingbirds & more
Overview
Closing Shift
"Real Emo" only consists of the DC Emotional Hardcore scene and the late 90s Screamo scene. What is known as "Midwest Emo" is nothing but Alternative Rock with questionable real emo influence. The worst of these bands is Closing Shift, a band from the California Bay Area, trying really hard to be Emo or alternative. The four-piece is comprised of Burl Hall, the lead singer, Brody Woolett on drums, Jacob LaRiza on Bass, and Noah Smith as their guitarist. They’re a bunch of self-loathing, narcissistic, pitiful posers, and they aren’t much more. They take inspiration from bands like My Chemical Romance, Mom Jeans, Citizen, and other fake emo bands.
Chaos Theory
A dual lead vocal powerhouse blending metal, pop, and rock with ease. Formed at Diablo Valley College, the band covers your favorite 2000s alternative hits, all the way to modern metal, and reimagined pop songs. With remarkable vocalists delivering soul-piercing performances, their music is enhanced by blistering guitar leads, heavy rhythmic guitar work, and powerful drum and bass lines. Chaos Theory is primed to be an unforgettable presence in the Bay Area music scene.
The Hummingbirds
The Hummingbirds are an R&B band from Pleasant Hill, CA. They play everything from classic soul like Otis Redding and Stevie Wonder to newer artists such as Steve Lacy and The Marías. The group is built around clear vocal harmonies and a tight, funky rhythm section. Whether they’re reimagining classics or offering their own modern spin on R&B, The Hummingbirds create a show that feels both nostalgic and new. With a sound rooted in community and a vibe that invites everyone in, they’re quickly becoming one of the East Bay’s standout live acts. Come ready to move, sway, and get swept up in the soul.
HARDLY AWAKE!
HARDLY AWAKE! is a four-piece rock band built on quick turns and high-energy sets. Their sound pulls from pop-punk, alt-rock, and heavier riff-driven bands, mixing influences like Origami Angel, Paramore, WILLOW, and Thank You Scientist. They lean into sharp rhythms, big hooks, and the kind of songs that move from tight, fast sections to heavier moments without losing momentum. HARDLY AWAKE! focus on playing with intensity and keeping the crowd locked in from the first note. Their shows are straightforward, energetic, and rooted in fun, live rock music.
