🎲 DUNGEONS & DRAGONS at headspace Caloundra! 🐉
Roll dice. Make friends. Definitely fight a goblin or two.

looking for a reason to leave the house that isn’t “school” or “helping mow the lawns”? headspace Caloundra’s got you.

Come and try out our D&D group (ages 12-17) — where dragons exist, your character can be a sarcastic elf obsessed with gaming, where nobody bats an eye if you show up dressed like you’re ready for a Renaissance fair (because honestly, that’s encouraged 😊).

What to expect:

  • A chill, relaxing and safe space, for yourself and for your characters
  • Absolutely zero pressure to know the rules (we’ve everything you need, including people who will explain what “roll for initiative” means)
  • The chance to invent a whole new persona and cause just the right amount of chaos
  • No trolls — unless they’re on the map and trying to eat you

Whether you're loud, quiet, shy, chatty, overthinking, underthinking, or somewhere in between, you’ll fit right in. We’re big fans of people being themselves here.

👀 Still not convinced? You’ll make a great rogue.

Frequently asked questions

What is Dungeons & Dragons (D&D)?

D&D is a tabletop roleplaying game where you create a character and go on adventures with others. You work together to solve problems, defeat monsters, and tell a shared story guided by a Dungeon Master (DM).

Do I need to know how to play?

Nope! This group is open to all experience levels, including total beginners. We’ll explain everything you need to know and can help you along the way.

Is this a safe space for LGBTQIA+ players?

Yes! 100%. This group is LGBTQIA+ inclusive and committed to being a safe, respectful, and welcoming space for everyone, regardless of gender identity, sexuality, or background.

What do I need to bring?

Your imagination! If you want to bring your own dice, miniatures, or a favourite character, go for it!

Can I create my own character?

Yes! You can create your own character ahead of time or with support in the group. We also have pre-made characters available if you'd rather jump right in.

What if I’m shy or don’t want to talk much?

That’s totally okay! There’s no pressure to perform or act a certain way. You can play your character however you feel comfortable, whether that means speaking in-character or just describing your actions.

How long are the sessions?

Sessions go for 60 minutes. You can always take breaks when needed.

What rules or version of D&D do you use?

We play Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition (5e) — it's beginner-friendly and widely used. But don’t worry if that doesn’t mean much to you yet — we’ll explain everything!

What if I make a mistake while playing?

Mistakes are part of the fun! D&D is all about learning and experimenting. The DM and other players are here to help, not judge. There’s no “wrong” way to play.

Do I have to commit to every session?

Nope! While it's awesome if you can come regularly, we understand that life gets busy. Just let us know if you'll miss a session so we can adjust the story.

Can I play a character that reflects my identity?

Absolutely. You are encouraged to create characters that represent you — your gender, pronouns, background, or anything else. This game is for you, and your story matters.

Is this group neuroaffirming?

Yes! We are a neurodivergent-inclusive and neuroaffirming space. Whether you’re autistic, have ADHD, experience anxiety, or think and process the world in your own unique way — you are welcome here.
