#DUMBODROP is Brooklyn’s most iconic party with an only-in-Dumbo twist: thousands of toy elephants parachuting down onto Washington Street. It's a fundraiser for Dumbo's Title 1 schools!

This is a fundraiser - where does the money go?

All proceeds from Drop tickets benefit our two public schools – PS307 (elementary) and Dock St (Middle School.) They’re both TITLE 1 Schools and in need of our support! Stop by and learn more about the schools at their tables in the Dumbo Archway Kids Zone on May 31.

Who puts on this event?

Accepted Answer

The DUMBO Improvement District. Think of us as a hyperlocal Chamber of Commerce meets Parks Department meets neighborhood cheerleader. We clean the streets, maintain the public spaces, do public programming + art, help small businesses, help large businesses, and advocate for Dumbo.

Why do I need a viewing ticket this year?

#DUMBODROP is a very popular event & there is limited space on Washington Street. All guests ages two and up will need a ticket to access the VIEWING AREA for the best view. We expect this to sell out. Your ticket guarantees you a spot inside the viewing area, a souvenir + a chance to win!

How are prize winners deteremined?

Accepted Answer

Winners will be selected at random and contacted via email by June 3. If the winner does not respond by June 5,  we reserve the right to contact the next eligible winner (and in this case the original winner forfeits their claim to the prize), and so on until a winner is found for each prize.

Where can I find more information about the free Kids Zone/Block Party?

I want to see both Drops!

Accepted Answer

Tickets are by drop, so if you want to see both, you need to buy one viewing ticket for the 5pm drop, and another viewing ticket for the 7pm drop.

All I want is a souvenir elephant!

Accepted Answer

A limited number of souvenir elephant / parachutes are available for purchase on May 31 at the Dumbo merch tables! There will be one inside the viewing area for ticket holders, and one in the Dumbo Archway.

Am I catching my own elephant?

Accepted Answer

No! We have a professional Parachute Team who executes The Drops. *IMPORTANT* Do not attempt to enter the Drop Zone to catch or retrieve an elephant. This is for event staff only. You’re here to watch and cheer them on! You’ll be handed your souvenir elephant when you arrive, so relax and enjoy.

I bought a ticket. Where do I get my elephant?

You will receive your souvenir elephant when you scan your ticket to enter the Viewing Area.

Is there food available?

Food & drink will be available for purchase from our Dumbo restaurants both inside the ticketed viewing area, as well as in the free Kids Zone/Block Party in the Dumbo Archway. Plus, we encourage you to make it a day in Dumbo and check out one of our many amazing restaurants for dinner the big even!

There are portapotties inside the ticketed viewing area, as well as in the free Kids Zone/Block Party in the Dumbo Archway.

Please email us at MorahanArtsandMedia@outlook.com to coordinate. As this is a limited capacity event, press is strongly encouraged to make arrangements in advance as we anticipate a sell out.

Is any of this free?

Accepted Answer

The Dumbo Archway Block Party is free- no tickets needed. This includes (1) The #DUMBODROP Kids Zone, powered by Brooklyn Bridge Parents, with 30+ activities for ages 1-10; and (2) Bedazzling Extravaganza  powered by Creatively Wild. You can also watch from further up Washington Street for free.

Can I bring a dog to Dumbo Drop?

Only services dogs are allowed.
