Daily Tickets to the Dumbarton Oaks Gardens

Join us at the Dumbarton Oaks Gardens!

All entry requires a pre-purchased ticket. No tickets are sold at the gate. You will be asked to present your ticket – digital or hard copy to a garden gate attendant.

A daily ticket allows entry any time between 2:00pm and 5:30pm. The Gardens close at 6:00pm.

Know Before you Go


For safety reasons, to minimize physical contact and practice social distancing, reservations must be made in advance online. No reservations will be taken on site or by phone. All tickets must be scanned to allow entry.

The Dumbarton Oaks Museum and Shop are open in a reduced capacity. More information can be found here.


Per CDC guidelines, those visitors who have been fully vaccinated may enjoy the Gardens without wearing a mask. Those who have not been vaccinated, or are still in the process of being vaccinated, must continue wearing a mask.

Our garden security officers will continue to wear masks as an added safety measure.

COVID-19 Safety Measures at the Dumbarton Oaks Gardens:

Visitor capacity is limited.

Bathrooms and water fountains are not available for use. Once visitors have exited the Gardens, re-entry is not permitted so please plan accordingly.

Hand sanitizer dispensers are located throughout the Gardens. We highly recommend sanitizing hands frequently.

All staff are required to wear masks and sanitize and/or wash their hands frequently over the course of the day.

All visitors must abide by the following guidelines:

If required (see above), wear a mask that covers the mouth and nose at all times.

Practice physical distancing by staying six feet apart from other visitors.

Food and drinks are not permitted. Only water is allowed in the Gardens.

Re-entry into the Gardens will not be permitted

Help keep the Gardens safe for everyone! Please do not visit Dumbarton Oaks if you have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 or COVID symptoms, if you are currently under isolation or quarantine orders, or you are feeling unwell and/or experiencing any COVID-19 symptoms. We look forward to welcoming you back when you are feeling better!

What happens if there is inclement weather?

In the event of unsafe conditions caused by inclement weather, the Gardens will close. If the Gardens are open during inclement weather, tickets will not be refunded or transferred. If the Gardens are closed, we will contact you through Eventbrite to refund your tickets.
