The Instructor for this class is Uzo. Uzo is an experienced lampshade maker who also runs a store on Etsy where she sells her custom lampshades. She received her training in the United Kingdom more than 5 years ago and has been teaching this craft for many years. Her past students include members of the WCAA (Window Coverings Association of America) Maryland Chapter.

Cotton or Linen fabric. Fabric weight should be between 4 to 6oz per square yard. DO NOT bring 100% silk fabric. DO NOT bring fabric with coating. DO NOT bring duck canvas fabric. Quiltweight cotton or cotton Twill fabrics would work well.
The internal fitting for a lampshade can be "Spider/Harp" or "UNO" fitting. Please reach out to the organizer/instructor to tell her what fitting your lamp has. If you do not know what fitting you have, reach out to the organizer. She can tell which fitting you need if you send her a picture of you
I will supply the lampshade making materials. Bring the following with you: your fabric, scissors, two weights (Canned vegetables would work) and a ruler.
Each student's completed lampshade will measure 14 inches in diameter x 9.25 inches in height. The lining and metal frames are white color. The lining is Flame retardant material specially made for lampshade making. At the end of the workshop, each student would leave with a completed lampshade.
Each student should bring a fabric measuring 50 inches by 13 inches. It is advisable for each student to bring at least 3 different fabric options, so the instructor can choose the most suitable fabric for lampshade making from the student's fabrics. Please press all the fabrics before bringing them
