Toast: An Improv Jam!
Hosted Improv-LA

Join us for our monthly improv jam! A place for anyone to get on stage and just play. Practice your improv & meet fellow students in this judgement-free, supportive playground.

ABOUT THE JAM:

Every month we host TOAST, A JAM where anyone from all experience levels can jump in and play.

Each night starts with warm-ups, a set from our House Team, and then opens up into a fun and supportive improv freeplay long form jam where you get to join on stage- all guided by a rotating cast of Improv-LA performers!

Even if you are new to improv, everyone supports everyone, so it's always a great fun time!

ABOUT IMPROV-LA CLASSES:

Since 2010, Improv-LA has been the go-to training center for professionals from some of the biggest creative studios in town including Netflix, Disney, Amazon, DreamWorks, Hulu, and CBS...now it's your turn to learn these powerful skills of thinking-on-your feet, better communication and playful confidence- all in a supportive , playful environment.

Our veteren improv teachers (from Saturday Night Live, Curb Your Enthusiam, Improv-LA, Second City, Groundlings, UCB, and more) are all working actors, so get ready to learn from the best!

The course are designed to make the student feel supportive, included, and confident onstage and off. We take the bare-essentials of all of our experience and training in improvisation, acting, and writing from traveling the world and designed a workshop that can be the most beneficial for everyone. Our goal isn't about competing with your fellow classmate, but having a supportive and safe space to learn from. We've taught thousands of students from all walks of life and all over the globe. Now it’s your turn.

Frequently asked questions

I've only done Improv 101, can I still join?

Yes! The Jam helps you do scenes, and is a fun supportive place. Plus, the more scenes you do, the better you'll get, so this is the perfect place to improve you improv!

What is a jam?

An improv jam is a free form collection of scenes, based off of a suggestion from the audience. Then, the improvisers take turns building a scene, with one person getting on stage and another person joining them , and the rest of the group supports them and/or build new scenes inspired by the first.

What if I don't know anyone there?

Improv jams are open to everyone! You don't need to know anyone. Focus on "yes, and..." (accepting and building on others' ideas). Be supportive and jump in! Everyone's there to play and have fun.

Why does it cost money to join?

The required donation is to pay rent, lights, and goes to the building owner. Your money allows us to keep the show going without having to charge more expensive tickets. No one is making profit from the night...well maybe the landlord.

I have to admit, I'm a bit too nervous to go.

Nerves are normal! Focus on the fun, remember it's low-pressure, and everyone there is going to support each other - there's no egos! Also, we have warmups just for this reason, and then everyone feels way more comfortable. Jump in, you might surprise yourself!
