'Dressed for Business' - After Hours
Overview
Step into the decades spanning wardrobe of Gloria Levin in new fashion exhibition 'Dressed for Business: The Gloria Levin Collection of Hardy Amies Couture', after hours at the Beecroft Art Gallery.
The Beecroft's new fashion exhibition explores the wardrobe of Gloria Levin, one of the most influential women in British business history, and lifelong patron of Hardy Amies. Amies, perhaps best known for his work as official couturier to Queen Elizabeth II, is one of the most renowned couturiers in the history of British design. Brought up in Essex, he was well known for his menswear tailoring, although he started his fashion career in womenswear. From his early work, Hardy developed a natural propension to tailoring, creating an innovative approach to suits that were both comfortable and flattering for women.
'Dressed for Business' presents the timeless pieces that Amies designed for Gloria, including exquisitely tailored suits and extravagant dresses spanning four decades of British fashion.
Explore the exhibition after hours at the gallery with a complementary glass of wine, before learning more about Gloria's incredible life and her relationship with fashion in a tour by Senior Curator Vittorio Ricchetti.
Doors open at 6pm, with half an hour for exploring the gallery. The talk begins at 6:30pm, and the event finishes by 8pm.
