Dreamscapes: Live in the Gallery with Joyce Yu & Minchae Kim
Overview
Join us on Saturday, February 28, at 7:00 pm at the Granville Center for the Arts for Dreamscapes: a special performance that invites you into a soundscape shaped by imagination—music that moves the way dreams do, slipping between tenderness, elegance, and sudden sparks of fiery passion. Pianist Joyce Yu and violinist Minchae Kim, both graduates of the Cleveland Institute of Music, bring their shared artistic vision to life, inviting listeners into an unpredictable and intimate musical dream world.
The evening opens with Janáček’s Violin Sonata, music shaped by memory, longing, and fragmented emotion—raw, urgent, and dreamlike. Brahms’s Sonata No. 2 in A major follows with warmth and lyricism, a radiant musical landscape that feels like drifting into a more expansive dream. Beethoven’s Violin Sonata No. 6 in A major brings spontaneous vitality and shifting colors, echoing the spark and brightness of entering a dream. The night closes with Ponce’s Estrellita, heard in Heifetz’s beloved arrangement—a tender, glowing melody that lingers like the final shimmer of a dream before waking.
This performance is free and fun for all ages.
