Dream Session
Overview
Join One Resilient Earth's February Dream Session with Meg Avon, a performance poet, activist, and river rights researcher with the University of the West of England for the Bristol Urban Avon. She is the author of poetry collection 'My Avon' and also featured in the documentary film 'Rave on For the Avon' 2025. Meg coordinates the grassroots guardianship groups for the charity We Are Avon, influencing the Rights of Nature movement across the whole river catchment. She is also the woman who famously married her River, as a symbolic act of love and protest.
Laureline Simon founded One Resilient Earth in 2020 to help grow the climate resilience of individuals, communities and ecosystems through transformative learning. Growing climate resilience requires a creative and collaborative mindset, which can be developped through artistic explorations and dialogues. Most of us also need to grow our imagination to start envisioning multiple just, biodiverse, climate-resilient and regenerative futures. We are convinced that unbriddled imagination is key to driving irresistible positive change in the world, and to inspire a broad movement.
In this session we will focus on building our connection to water, and learn from Mrs. Avon’s river-based imagination through water meditation, poetry, and discussions about river campaigning.
During the Dream Session we will:
- Briefly introduce the interconnection between imagination and our response to the impacts of climate change
- Explore Meg Avon’s art and imaginative practices
- Ask questions about the relationship between her art and activism
- Connect with attendees and reflect on different visions of the future
- Engage in interactive and creative exercises to imagine multiple futures together
As we share our dreams and visions at the end of the session, we will discuss how those dreams can influence our actions in the present in different ways, and what could be the next steps when it comes to exploring futures for a more climate-resilient world.
The Dream Session is open to all. It is a space to:
- Practice untethered imagination
- Honor all visions and voices equally
- Practice mutual understanding, respect and support
- Build a transnational community
