In the wake of 9/11, working for AmeriCorps, Rick Wolf developed a process to help students process difficult emotions. Adapting this process, this course is designed to empower participants to use art as an outlet to process difficult emotions. Each class will include a check-in, a focusing practice, a brief exploration of works of abstract art, and the creation of an art work. The created works will provide an opportunity to explore and process anxieties, fears, or other difficult emotions. Every week will offer a new technique for expression.

In this class, participants will build a simple arsenal of self-selected medium and abstract art forms to bring with them in their daily lives. No artistic experience is needed! This is a community class where everybody is invited to explore self-expression and find themselves within the creative process.

Rick Wolf has a BFA and from U.C.’s school of Design, Art, Architecture, and Planning. He fell in love with glass tile as a medium and honed his tile craft under the guidance of architect Terry Brown. Rick currently designs and creates works of artistic tile throughout Cincinnati and beyond.
