New Drawing Course Online – for complete beginners
I hope this will be a NEW exciting online drawing course, WAYS TO DRAW, destined mostly to beginners although if you have some previous experience and want to review themes, you'll be more than welcome.
Each week, I'll be showing some examples then we'll draw something after a reference image. We will be seeing shapes, directions, proportions, values, and all the elements of the visual language that can be useful to construct our work... Over time, we will discover various techniques and explore different creative activities to keep on improving our skills.
Among the possible media to start with, we´ll be using: charcoal, graphite pencils, to later pass to sanguine and other chalk pastels, pastel pencils, ballpen, oil pastels, Indian/Chinese ink. Obviously this will be gradual and we will see in advance when it will be necessary to get a new material, you won't have to buy everything at the beginning and never as an obligation. We will start with regular charcoal or a 2B graphite pencil.
In the classes we will watch some works of art, example, maybe I will make a little demonstration on my camera if necessary, then you will be drawing the rest of the time.
Every class is different, live on zoom, NOT recorded previously. Of course, you will have the chance to show your work on camera or send a photo thru email if you want to. Each class may last a little longer than one hour, depending on how many persons are registered, though the vacancies will be very few per group.
Usually I don’t do step-by-step demonstrations, as i said before but I can do some exception depending on the activity. I explain, give tips, show examples and answer all questions. I make “corrections” but you have to use your creativity to do the work. I mean you don't have to copy what I do. This way you are learning all the time.
We will work a lot on basic sketching and drawing to later do more advanced studies. And, at some point we will explore the art of painting.
Among the subjects to portray, we will explore still lifes, landscapes, animals, human figures and portraits as surely much more... If you like to work more on abstraction and imaginary images, as classes go by, I might split the group to be able to work more specifically with each one.
