The British Empire is in the midst of its imperialist expansion.

Major technological advances are occurring, with the first wireless communication being sent across open sea.

The women’s suffrage movement is growing and the “new woman” is emerging.

Eastern European Jewish immigrants are making their way to England in large numbers.

And Bram Stoker's novel Dracula is published; this story of a Transylvanian vampire who invades England captures the popular imagination for generations to come.

In Dracula (Annotated), theatre dybbuk excavates Bram Stoker’s famous tale, using a unique blend of historical investigation and heightened theatricality to weave together the gothic characters and plot of Dracula with references to societal forces at play in Victorian England that are still timely today.

This is the second in a series of “Annotated” productions in which theatre dybbuk explodes and explores classic or well-known and culturally influential works to disrupt more familiar or comfortable ways of engaging with them.

The three-weekend limited run in Los Angeles takes place in Shatto Chapel at First Congregational Church of Los Angeles as part of a rolling world premiere.

The run time is approximately 2 hours 45 minutes. There is one 10 minute intermission.

Is the show appropriate for all ages?

The show is most appropriate for those who are 12 years of age and older.

Where shall I park?

First Congregational Church of Los Angeles has ample parking in a lot on campus, adjacent to the performance venue. There is also additional street parking in the surrounding neighborhood.

Can I buy tickets at the door?

Yes, you can purchase tickets at the door for $35 each (+processing fees). Purchased in advance, general admission tickets are $30 (+processing fees), so there is an advantage to buying in advance. Students, seniors, and union members receive $5 off their tickets with ID.

I am a student. How do I get a discount?

If you are a student, you can select "student" for a $5 discount when purchasing your ticket. This $5 discount also applies to tickets purchased at the door. Please be prepared to show your student ID at the door.

I am a senior. How do I get a discount?

If you are a senior (55 + over), you can select "senior (55+)" for a $5 discount when purchasing your ticket. This $5 discount also applies to tickets purchased at the door.

I am a member of a labor union. How do I get a discount?

If you are a member of any AFL-CIO or entertainment labor union or guild, you can select "union member" for a $5 discount when purchasing your ticket. This $5 discount also applies to tickets purchased at the door. Please be prepared to show your member ID at the door.

Is the performance space wheelchair accessible?

Yes. There are ramps and/or elevators available between the parking lot and all performance spaces.
