Description:
Join us for a public lecture by Dr. Elijah Anderson, Sterling Professor of Sociology and African American Studies at Yale University, titled The Art and Science of Urban Ethnography. Dr. Anderson, one of the nation’s leading urban ethnographers, will explore how sociologists study the everyday life of cities—examining the rhythms, challenges, and possibilities that shape urban spaces. Drawing from decades of fieldwork, his talk offers insight into how close observation and human connection can deepen our understanding of race, inequality, and community in contemporary America.
Dr. Anderson’s visit is part of the Phi Beta Kappa Visiting Scholar Series and is co-sponsored by Hamline University’s Department of Criminal Justice and Forensic Science and Department of Social Justice and Social Change.
