Event description

You're invited to join Irshad Manji, author of Don't Label Me, for an exclusive 4-week book club -- via video in real time! Speak directly with Irshad. Ask your questions... Listen to her questions for you... And hear from other readers.

This is the first time Irshad is offering a live-streamed book club and space is limited. So be sure to register for a unique opportunity to enhance your book-loving experience.

You'll gather with Irshad on "Zoom," the video-chat platform that you can access with one link. Irshad will send you the instructions to log on as of Sunday, July 7. Then join her on that date and for the next three Sundays from 5-6 pm Eastern. Please purchase Don't Label Me separately. You may do so here.

Note: The $20 fee covers all FOUR sessions, with the start date of July 7th.

Schedule and Topics:

Sunday, July 7, 5-6 pm ET: Irshad will cover Section One: "Can We Talk?", Section Two: "Straight White Male" and Section Three: "Muslim Refugee."

Bring your personal stories of being labeled, as well as thoughts about what you'd like to gain from these sessions with Irshad and your fellow readers.

Sunday, July 14, 5-6 pm ET: Irshad will address your questions about Section Four: "What Change Means", Section Five: "A New Identity," and Section Six: "Why (and How) to Stop Being Offended."

Of course, you may also pose questions about previous parts of the book. Often, people need time to process thoughts and emotions, so Irshad will be flex.

Sunday, July 21, 5-6 pm ET: Irshad will engage you about Section Seven: "Re-thinking Power and Privilege," Section Eight: "Re-thinking Multiculturalism," and Section Nine: "Re-thinking Courage."

Don't be afraid of the big ideas in these sections. This is your chance to explore them without being judged.

Sunday, July 28, 5-6 pm ET: The grand finale! Irshad will discuss Section 10: "The Lessons of Lily."

Given that this book is an incredible conversation between Irshad and her beloved dog, Lily, the author will not only summarize her big takeaways but she will also propose concrete steps that each of us can take to view others -- and be viewed by others -- in all of our humanity.
