Will there be food and drink?

Yes, whatever you bring.

Can I wear fins and hand paddles?

Accepted Answer

Only the zombie prime will have fins.  No hand paddles.

Question 3

Is Rowdy Gaines going to be a zombie?

Accepted Answer

No, however he does make an excellent zombie. Rowdy will be there for the event and he will release the zombie prime in the lake and start the event.

Question 4

Are pull buoys, wetsuits or kick boards allowed?

Accepted Answer

yes, but you must provide. No other flotation devices  (keep your water wings at home) allowed other that the tow swim buoy.

Question 5

Are spectators allowed?

Accepted Answer

Yes, if they carpool with you. We only have enough parking for ticket holders and volunteers.

Do you need any help volunteer wise?

Accepted Answer

Yes, thanks for asking you are a kind and wonderful person.  If you are willing to lend a hand please talk to Lucky.  He will try to charge you, but I have repeatedly explained to him that's not how it works.

If I volunteer to help can I still participate in the swim?

Accepted Answer

Yes, a thousand times, yes, and thanks for asking.  You still have to have a ticket to swim though. However, since you were a kind enough person to ask to help, and you know that all the money goes to a good charity, I know you will want to do both.

Question 8

Will I be timed? Are there age groups?

Accepted Answer

It's not a race. You have one hour to make it over and back to survive. Zombies don't care how old you are;  brains all taste the same.

Question 9

May I fight off the zombies to keep them from pulling my cord?

Accepted Answer

You have signed up for the wrong event. There is a MMA event in the Vegas octagon please go there, and don't forget your mouth guard. The goal is to out swim or out stealth the zombies not to out fight them.

Question 10

What if my light does not come on when my cord is pulled?

Accepted Answer

You are still zombified. If you can't get the light on return to shore to get another light. You may not zombify other swimmers if your light is off.

Question 11

My seven year old son can swim a length of the pool can he participate?

Accepted Answer

I assume you have him insured for a high sum and are looking to collect. Otherwise I would like to use you as an example of why you should have to take a test and have a license to have a child.

Do I have to stay in the water and catch other people once I am zombified?

Accepted Answer

No, but it's a lot of fun crushing other peoples dreams and aspirations. Strip them of their bragging rights as someone else did to yours.

Question 13

May I grab swimmers as I am trying to catch their cord?

Accepted Answer

No, this is to be a non contact event. Go for the cord only. If you pull the cord and the light does not go off you may gently tap them to let them know they have been zombified.

Question 14

May I dress up as a zombie?

Accepted Answer

Yes,  we are having a best dressed zombie contest with a prize to be given out right before the swim. Please come as zombified as you like.

Question 15

I'm not sure I can swim one kilometer and I'm afraid to swim in the dark can you accommodate me?

Accepted Answer

Yes, please check google for the nearest indoor swimming pool. Make sure it is shallow so you can stand up if you need to. I will check to see if we have anyone willing to walk along beside you as you are swimming to offer encouragement and beverages of your choice.

If I become zombified will I be double tapped when exiting the water.

Accepted Answer

Yes, assuming we have some competent zombie hunters near the shore.

Question 17

Lucky buys lots of yo-yos, how do we know the  ticket sales really go to charity?

Accepted Answer

No yo-yos will be purchased with ticket sale money. All the money from ticket sales will go to the Step into Swim charity which supports learn to swim lessons for those that can't afford them at the Rosen Aquatic Center. Wallets and other valuables left unattended during the event may go to yo-yos.

What about alligators?

Accepted Answer

Alligators can't be zombified as they are immune to the virus. Please leave them alone and don't pull their tail  as a light won't come on. You would know this if you thoroughly read the Zombie Cause® Dictionary.

Question 19

Will there be awards?

Accepted Answer

Survivors get one style of medallion and a sticker, Zombified swimmers get a different medallion. Everyone gets a patch. 1st male and female survivor gets a special award along with the oldest swimmer. There are awards for the zombie costume contest as well (Best, most Bizarre & sexiest)
