Event description

Description

Hike in Rose Canyon and learn about DNA barcoding while enjoying California native plants in their natural habitat. The La Jolla/Riford Library project called “Catalog of Life” engages citizens to collect insect samples that undergo DNA analysis and are turned into colorful barcodes in the Barcode Of Life (BOLD) database.

Fifteen LifeScanner kits (each with 3-4 vials per kit) will be available to capture insect samples along the hike. The hike is rated easy in effort.
