About this event

This course is an essential training for individuals who collect and/or submit DNA evidence to the AZDPS Crime Laboratory, or other forensic laboratories.

This 4 hour course will instruct on DNA Basics and how it relates to Forensic Science; the purpose and rules of the CODIS database as it related to forensic samples; and proper collection, packaging and submission techniques for DNA evidence sent to AZDPS Crime Laboratories. This is a free course open to law enforcement personnel including but not limited to Crime Scene Technicians, Detectives, Officers, Troopers, etc.

2222 W. Encanto Blvd. Phoenix, AZ 85009. We will send an email prior to the class with detailed instructions about the location of the class. We use different classrooms at this address, so specifics vary from class to class. you can always email SPercy-Fine@azdps.gov with questions.

Are meals or snacks provided?

No meals are provided. We usually offer coffee and will sometimes have snacks/candy available, but it varies depending on who is teaching the class.

Who can attend?

Anyone collecting and submitting DNA evidence to our lab. We have had officers, detectives, crime scene personnel, attorneys, detention officers, and SANE nurses attend (to name a few).
