SLOWDOWN – An exploration of the sounds that inspired the future. We’ll be cycling through vinyl and digital tracks that unite our hip-hop community, featuring samples and reference tracks from old soul, R&B, and classic house music. This will be a community-driven night aimed at bringing the scene together through the lens of our group, ASF. Our goal is to create an ecosystem of like-minded creatives who can connect, collaborate, and grow together. There will be many references to Quiet Storm radio station throughout the night with the flyer drawing inspiration from the 70s-90s style late night radio. The event is in contrast with our normal gathering BREAKDOWN, which focuses on rap and footwork. Please note: there will be no live performances, as this night will focus solely on DJing and vinyl.Lineup:NephMetvlmouthCal.xHyehoneyArtist Bios:

NePh
Hailing from Chicago, NePh brings a warped, dreamy perspective to lo-fi hip hop. Raised on soul music, his sound is deeply inspired by sweet soul, '70s R&B, and '90s throwback rap. He is currently a member of the rap group ASF, which has toured across the East Coast alongside producer Cal.x. Their upcoming album marks a shift toward a faster-paced, club-friendly sound.

Metvlmouth
Metvlmouth is the alias of talented producer and DJ William Harp. Originally from Florida, he has spent the past eight years in Los Angeles honing his craft in lo-fi hip hop. His remixes have garnered attention from several blogs, including Godbless, helping cement his place in the LA beat scene. Currently, Metvlmouth holds a DJ residency at a bar in Downtown LA.

Cal.x
Cal.x is a seasoned producer of jungle and ambient music, approaching his 11th year in New York. He has opened for notable artists such as Cities Aviv and Bickle, and his work has been featured on multiple radio platforms including NTS, Radio Raheem, and Beloved. His recent exploration of footwork was inspired by his collaboration with NePh in ASF, bridging the dance sounds of Baltimore and Chicago.

Hyehoney
Hyehoney has been DJing vinyl for the past six years, focusing in on classic house music and vintage Korean records. Beyond the decks, she is a talented art director who seamlessly incorporates her love of vintage music/style into her creative design work.
