DIY Lawn Conversion Workshop
Overview
In this workshop, we will discuss the Valley Water Landscape rebate program, how to choose plants for your yard, and the steps to converting a lawn. Additionally, we will host a shrub ID tour with our plants around the education center. This workshop will provide you with resources to start your own lawn conversion.
So Why do a Lawn Conversion?: What we do is more than just doing landscaping work. What we do helps change the infrastructure of the yard to help homeowners save water that would otherwise be wasted on grass lawns, have better rain water retention, watershed and soil regeneration, and provide food and habitat to the local wildlife such as birds, bees, and butterflies.
This workshop is intended for adults and homeowners looking to convert their own lawns; we kindly ask any high school volunteers to please find a different Our City Forest volunteer event to attend. Thank you!
Disclaimer: You should not attend the in-person workshop date if you are feeling ill or are showing any symptoms of COVID-19. At this event, you may be working with individuals who are unvaccinated. Please use your discretion in taking the proper precautions.
