DIY Design Power Hour: Canva Tools for Business

No budget for a graphic designer? Wearing all the hats in your business or organization? If you’ve got to DIY, this fast-paced intro is for you. In just 60 minutes, you’ll get a practical overview of how Canva can support everyday work.

This session is designed for Canva beginners. Participants should be comfortable using a computer and navigating the internet.

What We’ll Cover

• Design Basics – A few simple principles that instantly improve layouts
• AI Design Tools – A look at Canva’s AI features and when to use them
• Presentations & Animation – Creating slides and adding motion efficiently
• Websites, Sheets & Forms – A guided tour of Canva’s non-design tools
• Hands-On Practice – Try a tool or template and ask questions

Note: This session is designed as a practical introduction to key tools rather than a deep dive into each one.

What to Bring

Valerie Chavez is a marketing and communications strategist with nearly a decade of experience leading multi-channel campaigns, shaping brand identities, and helping organizations adopt digital tools to grow. She has managed marketing efforts reaching audiences across 15 states and now serves as Brand & Content Strategist at Transformd, where she brings that expertise to support small businesses in the Paso del Norte region.
