Event description
Diversity, Equity, Equality, and Inclusion workshop: Best Practices (and WHY!) St. Louis, MO February 11-12, 2021

About this Event

Many Americans often think of culture in terms of Black and White or ethnicity only. It’s important for organizations to realize that, while the current emphasis is on Black Lives Matter, diversity is also marked by gender performance and varying cultural identities, such as socioeconomic status, educational achievement, ethnicity, differently-abled (disability), and more cultural markers. These identities intersect like streets at a corner, with the intersections of cultural identities being different for each and every human…no two people identify with exactly the same cultures, co-cultures, identities, or standpoints.

As the movement toward greater diversity, equity, equality, and inclusion (DEI) kicks into a higher gear and sweeps across the United States, more and more organizations will find their people practices to be under scrutiny and potentially subject to negative publicity when DEI is not seen as a high priority within those organizations. An increasing number of organizations (both private sector and public sector) are now being proactive and are seeking to improve the ways they address DEI. If yours is among those organizations, we are here to help. We can get your organization on the right path without the need to rush into hiring an entire team of DEI specialists until you are ready and have the budget for such a team.

Dr. Larry Edmonds (Ed.D.) brings expertise from both the business and academic worlds on the intersections between gender and cultural identities, earning his doctorate in education based on cultural intersections and biases some people have against other people and groups of people. AND, his M.A. and B.A. are in Human Communication with emphasis on Interpersonal/Cross-cultural interactions! He has also been awarded outstanding teaching/training awards for his work in the public and private sectors.

Dr. Edmonds looks forward to meeting and working with you during this two-day package of workshop information!
