District 7 Dangerous Behavior and Prevention Training

By Melissa Statman, UniServ Director, District 7

Overview

Learn more about The Dangerous Behavior and Prevention and Intervention Law.

Please join Melissa Statman, MEA UniServ Director, District 7 to learn more about The Dangerous Behavior and Prevention and Intervention Law.

To help increase workplace and student safety, MEA helped pass the Dangerous Behavior and Prevention and Intervention Law. Among other things, the law:

  • Protects your paycheck and sick time, if a dangerous behavior is substantiated and a staff person is injured.
  • Requires administration to work with the union to develop action plans that keep students and staff safe.

After the training, you will know:

  1. What constitutes a dangerous behavior.
  2. What protections are in place and covered by the law.
  3. The protocols your district should have in place.
  4. How your union can ensure administration is held accountable in addressing dangerous behavior.
  5. How to navigate the report process.
