About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Disinformation is attacking the stories we tell about who we are—especially in communities bound by shared geography, culture, and/or identity.

In this 90-minute online workshop, civic media scholar and journalist Dr. Cirien Saadeh explores how community journalism can act as a frontline defense against disinformation. Designed for journalists, organizers, educators, and anyone engaged in local movement and narrative work, this session will dig into:

  • How disinformation targets identity and place
  • Why community-based journalism is key to narrative resilience
  • What partnerships between community orgs and local media can look like
  • How to support and strengthen trusted information infrastructures

This is a mostly-practical workshop grounded in real stories and built for immediate application in your community.
