Dr. Cirien Saadeh is an Arab-American educator, community organizer, and community-trained journalist working at the intersections of journalism, social movements, sustainability, and experiential education. She is the founder of the Journalism of Color Training Center, a community journalism support organization and soon-to-launch newsroom focused on building narrative power in historically marginalized communities.
Cirien teaches at Prescott College in the MA in Organizing and Community Justice and BA in Critical Social Justice and Solidarity programs, where she also serves as Department Coordinator. Her academic and organizing work is grounded in anti-oppressive practice and the development of sustainable, community-rooted journalism.
She holds a Ph.D. in Sustainability Education from Prescott College, where she developed the Journalism of Color methodology: a framework for building journalism that resists extractive systems and strengthens community power and resilience. In 2025, she will launch a non-academic community journalism certificate and publish an open-source anti-racist journalism handbook.
