The Mayor & City Council launched a speaker series that aims to bring thought-provoking, nationally recognized speakers to San Leandro as a way to engage the community through communication and dialogue.

Ronald L. Davis is the immediate past Director of the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS Office) of the U.S. Dept. of Justice. Davis also led President Obama's 21st Century Policing Task Force that developed concrete recommendations to improve community trust in the police while enhancing public safety. His federal professional experience also includes serving as a policing expert for the DOJ's Civil Rights Division.

Prior to serving as COPS Director, Davis had a distinguished career in law enforcement serving 8 years as East Palo Alto's Chief of Police. Davis co-authored numerous publications on race, policing and analyzing racial profiling data.
