About this event

  • Free venue parking

Hopkins Gardens are in the courtyard of a public apartment complex. Do you live near Capitol Hill? This is the activity for you!

We'll be planting, harvesting and weeding every Thursday. We give away the vegetables, herbs and flowers we pick the next day at Food and Farm Fridays at THEARC. This is a great opportunity to help people living in food apartheid to take home fresh, life-giving vegetables! No experience is necessary--learn to grow your own food while you volunteer.

Timing can shift a little week-to-week, so it's always helpful to ping us before you show to make sure we'll be ready when you arrive.

Children accompanied by a parent or guardian are welcome.

Frequently asked questions

Will we work in the rain?

Reach out to us before you come if the weather is bad and we can let you know if we still need help.

Can I bring my kids?

Yes! You can bring kids of any age, as long as you work with them.

What should I bring?

Please bring a water bottle. We also recommend sunscreen and any snacks you might want while you're here. We have spare work gloves, but if you have a pair you like that fits you, you should bring them.

What should I wear?

Wear clothes that can get dirty and allow you to feel comfortable in the weather of the day. For example, you might want a jacket.

Is there a bathroom? Or someplace to eat?

The nearest place to eat and use the bathroom is The Roost, which is a 7 minute walk from the garden.
