✦ Exhibition Highlights
“Discover the Art of Dr. Seuss”—a compelling showcase celebrating the imaginative world of Theodor Seuss Geisel.
This first-time Oyster Bay exhibition coincides with the Oyster Festival weekend and will feature a vibrant selection of
The Art of Dr. Seuss Collection, including:

  • Serigraphs, mixed media works, fine art on paper and canvas
  • Beloved characters such as The Grinch, The Cat in the Hat, Sunbathing Bird, and more

Guests will also encounter treasures from “The Secret Art of Dr. Seuss”—a private body of work Geisel created for himself, featuring his wildly imaginative Unorthodox Taxidermy sculptures, including the Carbonic Walrus, Powerless Puffer, and Kangaroo Bird.

✦ Special Guest Jeff Schuffman – Director of The Art of Dr. Seuss Collection

✦Ted Geisel, best known as Dr. Seuss, often drew himself as The Cat Behind the Hat. His playful alter ego appeared throughout his private “Secret Art,” advertisements, and editorial work—forever a clever observer of his fantastical worlds.

Though his art was in high demand during his lifetime, Dr. Seuss never released limited-edition works until 1997—six years after his passing. The launch of The Secret Art of Dr. Seuss cemented his reputation not only as a literary giant but also as one of the most distinctive artistic voices of the 20th century.

Every piece in this exhibition is estate-authorized and meticulously adapted from Geisel’s original works. Each bears a posthumously printed or engraved signature, guaranteeing its authenticity and connection to the Dr. Seuss estate.

✦ Why You Shouldn’t Miss It This joyful and imaginative exhibition brings fine art and storytelling together in perfect harmony. A one-of-a-kind cultural experience, it’s the perfect family outing and a highlight of Oyster Bay’s Oyster Festival weekend.
