Rat Island Docent Informational Meeting

Join us for an engaging in-person event: the Rat Island Docent Informational Meeting! Discover the unique ecosystem of Rat Island and learn how you can contribute to its preservation. This meeting will take place at the historic Fort Flagler State Park WWII Hospital.

As a docent, you'll play a vital role in protecting the delicate habitats of Rat Island, home to diverse wildlife including the Caspian Terns and harbor seals. Following the success of our inaugural program in 2023, we're expanding our team of dedicated volunteers for the 2025 season. Docents will engage with visitors during low tide periods from Memorial Day through Labor Day, educating them about the island's unique wildlife and the importance of conservation efforts.

Whether you're passionate about nature, education, or community engagement, this is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to the preservation of a vital natural habitat.

Don't miss this chance to become a steward of Rat Island's precious ecosystem. Sign up now and be part of a dedicated team making a real difference!
