Discover Forest Wood Wildlife Reserve
Overview
Join the Cumbernauld Living Landscape team as we explore Forest Wood Wildlife Reserve.
This walk will take us from Abronhill to the ancient Fannyside Bog, where we’ll look for signs of specialist bog species, hunting raptors and Pine Martens. We’ll also visit a tiny offshoot of Easter Island and learn how we can help Forest Wood escape the same fate as that famous island!
The walk will cover approximately 4km (6000 steps) over mostly flat, unmade forest paths. There is a long (approx. 600m), moderate incline as we climb up to the woods from the town.
This walk will be weather dependant. If we need to cancel, we will notify all attendees on the morning of the event via email. Please wear suitable clothing and footwear for the weather.
Paul, Krissy and James from the Cumbernauld Living team will be running this event. Over the next few years, the new Nurturing Natural Connections Project will be offering an exciting range of free wellbeing, citizen science, and conservation opportunities. This is the perfect time to meet the team, find out more and get involved!
This is a free event, made possible with funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
This walk is part of a series of events, as part of Nurturing Natural Connections project launch. Join us on our other discovery walks exploring Cumbernauld Glen Wildlife Reserve, Luggiebank Woods Wildlife Reserve and Cumbernauld House Park.
