"Espirales" quintet, founded in 2023, brings together five graduates with Gold Certificates from Havana's Superior Arts Institute (ISA / Instituto Superior de Arte). The group performs different musical styles, so there are dissimilar influences in their repertoire that allude to chamber concert music, Cuban music, jazz and World Music.
The founding members: Rodrigo García (pianist / musical director), Tania Haase (violinist / vocalist) Olivia Rodríguez (double bassist), Jesús Estrada and Alejandro Aguiar (percussionists), have extensive national and international experience by being part of and/or creating projects with all these influences, which give "Espirales" a unique style in the interpretation of current Cuban music.
All of the musicians making up Espirales are professionals dedicated to teaching, and have together designed an introduction and development program providing updated information on Cuban music and culture.
Espirales has performed on several important stages in Cuba, highlighting their participation in prestigious events such as the "Jazz Plaza International Festival," "Habana Clásica" concert music festival, popular music and Cuban jazz festival "Varadero - Josone 2024".
They have held concerts and workshops in different cities of the United States (Chicago, New York, Boston, Burlington, Putney, Vermont, Madison, Wisconsin and Miami), Spain (León and Madrid), Switzerland (Zurich) ,Italy (Bassano del Grappa), Romania (Brasov, Alba Iulia, Bucarest) and have also taught master classes, bringing Cuban music and its roots closer to the vision of chamber music, with programs of young Cuban composers.
In 2025 they released their first album as a group entitled "En busca de un espacio."
