As business and politics become increasingly interconnected, Georgetown University is commited to preparing leaders for today’s globalized world through a first-of-its-kind undergraduate program.
A single, joint degree from the Walsh School of Foreign Service and McDonough School of Business, the Dikran Izmirlian Program in Business and Global Affairs (Izmirlian BGA) features hands-on experience in Washington, D.C., and around the world; dedicated resources at both schools; and a diverse cohort of students and alumni passionate about solving pressing global issues.
The Izmirlian BGA program aims to position graduates to make meaningful contributions involving pressing global issues within business, government, and society. The program's signature and custom courses are co-taught by members of the business and foreign service faculty, and will explore the themes of global markets and politics, global leadership and teamwork, global operations, and business, policy, and society. The sequence of signature courses includes three international experiential units. In addition, students will participate in a multi-semester “thread” course — Washington, Business, and the World — where they will engage with the rich resources of Washington, D.C. — NGOs, policy centers, government agencies, embassies, industry associations, and more.
The program launched during the Spring 2020 semester, and will be selecting its seventh cohort -- the Class of 2029 -- during the 2024-2025 academic year. The Class of 2029 will be selected from those enrolled in BGAF 1001 (Global Markets and Politics) during the Spring 2026 semester. Due to capacity constraints and the cohort-nature of the program, each Izmirlian BGA cohort pursuing the new degree is limited to about 40 students in each graduating class.
Find out more on how to register for BGAF 1001 and about the program during our information session. Coffee and snacks will be provided!
