Digital Democracy from Below

By UVA's Digital Technology for Democracy (DTD) Lab

Overview

Register here to join us in person for a global conversation on rebuilding democracy from the ground up!

Digital Democracy from Below is a public conversation hosted by UVA’s Digital Technology for Democracy Lab that examines how democracy is rebuilt from the ground up, through data practices, infrastructures, and ecological struggle. This in-person and online event will feature speakers representing different communities around the world and bring a wealth of experience at the intersection of research, community-building, policy, and practice. The conversation will ultimately result in the creation of a collection of short, public-facing essays that extend the discussion beyond the university walls.

Lunch will be served at 11:45am EST for in-person participants, and the conversation will be livestreamed at 12:00pm. Digital Democracy from Below is free and open to the public. This event builds upon the lab's October 2024 convening, “Reimagining AI for Environmental Justice and Creativity
