About this event

Join Michael Metivier, a Windsor resident and editor at Merriam-Webster, for a fascinating look into the world of dictionaries and how they’re made. Using the word “life” as an example, Michael will explore what lexicography is and what dictionaries can—and can’t—tell us about language.

This engaging talk will also include plenty of time for questions and answers, so come ready with your dictionary-related curiosities!

Michael is not only a lexicographer but also a poet, editor, and musician. His writing has appeared in well-known publications like Poetry, Orion, The Kenyon Review, and African American Review. He lives in Windsor with his family.

Whether you’re a word lover or just curious about how dictionaries work, this is a great opportunity to learn from someone who helps shape one of the most trusted dictionaries in the world.
