Coastal Continuing Education invites you to attend this interactive and educational 2-hour training with Katherine Pica, LCSW. This training is for all clinicians and treatment providers seeking to learn more about how to diagnose OCD accurately and understand the treatment modalities for OCD, with an emphasis on Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy.
Course Description:
This training provides clinicians with a comprehensive overview of Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), including diagnostic criteria, common subtypes, and differential diagnoses. Participants will learn to identify both overt and covert compulsions, understand the OCD cycle through the lens of the ERP model, and differentiate OCD from other conditions such as Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) and specific phobias. The course also addresses common misconceptions about Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold standard treatment for OCD, and offers an overview of how ERP is implemented in real-world clinical practice.
Learning Objectives:
This workshop is designed to help you:
1. Differentiate Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) from other commonly misdiagnosed conditions using diagnostic criteria and functional analysis.
2. Identify and describe common subtypes of OCD, including both overt and covert (mental) compulsions.
3. Explain the recommended treatment modalities for OCD, with an emphasis on Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) and its practical application.
