This family-friendly event is FREE and features mask making, ballet folklórico performances, calaca puppets, a community altar, and a live musical procession featuring a capoeira demonstration. All of these activities are taking place in the lobby at CCA. Attendees are invited to dress in their Day of the Dead best.

Schedule of Events

3:00 - 5:00 PM | Paper mask-making activity for families

3:30 - 4:00 PM | Ballet Folklórico performances

4:30 - 5:30 PM | Calaca puppet photo opportunity; watch 9-foot-tall calaca puppets walk around the lobby and get your photos taken with them

5:30 - 5:50 PM | Axé Capoeira performance; enjoy a drumming procession with 12 drummers dressed in handcrafted Zarco Guerrero calaca masks; the procession will end with a capoeira demonstration. Capoeira is a dynamic sport that combines elements of dance, acrobatics and self-defense.

After the community festivities, Edna Vázquez will perform on the Steena Murray Mainstage at Chandler Center for the Arts beginning at 7:00 P.M. Tickets are $32.
