Food and drinks, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, paints, coatings, personal care and hygiene and the likes- these are all samples of product formulations. People who are into the field of formulation research and development knows the enormous challenges that come with this type of work. But there is a tool available that can significantly help manage these challenges and allow the formulators to navigate through the complex pathway facing them. This tool is called Design of Experiments.

Design of Experiment (DOE) is a body of knowledge that lays down the principles on how experimentation can be done properly and economically as well as how the experimental results could be analyzed correctly and effectively. The main benefit of using DOE to develop formulations is that it allows all potential inputs (also called components or factors) to be evaluated simultaneously, systematically, and quickly against the conventional approach of dealing with such inputs one-at-a-time. With DOE, one can evaluate the effect of each formulation input (and the synergistic or antagonistic effects between these inputs) on each formulation characteristic or output of concern and identify the critical factors. Identified critical inputs and factors then paves the way for proper improvement and optimization of formulation for which DOE also gives a corresponding methodology. The manufacturing process for the formulation also can be developed and optimized in the same manner. This systematic approach using DOE also enables the business organization to do efficient scale-up and process validation because of the robustness of both the formulation and manufacturing process. Overall, the application of DOE to the formulation development and optimization process has enabled a lot of organizations to save on development cost and time while taking a faster route to improving their product formulation performance and achieving the formulation’s targeted capabilities.

The session will be conducted by a mix of actual experimentation activities, team-based learning workshops and discussions. The ‘learning-by-doing philosophy’ is embodied in the design of this course. As such the session will be strictly limited to 15 participants only. This is to ensure a high engagement level and interaction between the Mentors/Facilitators and the participants.

How much is the cost to attend this learning session?

This three-day learning session is worth Php 21,840.00 (VAT included). These includes (1) Workbook Materials and Training Manual, (2) Morning and Afternoon Snacks and Lunch, Unlimited Espresso Coffee/Tea and (3) Certificate of Completion

Will slot reservation be required? Can I just walk-in on the day of the event?

We require slot reservation given the limited slots as well as for the purpose of better preparatory work on our end for the training/learning session. Also we want to avoid the situation where a participant comes in unexpected and we cannot accomomodate anymore because the venue capacity is already filled.

Can I reserve or buy a slot online and pay offline?

Yes you can. However do take note that there will be an online platform fee that you will need to pay 'online' and the buying or reservation will not run into completion until the payment offline is received by the organizer. Offline payment will be thru bank deposit as detailed in the response to the 2nd FAQ above.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

The venue is right along One San Miguel Ave cor Shaw Blvd across Lourdes School of Mandaluyong. If you will take MRT, you can alight from Shaw Station and walk from there. Alternatively you can take any buses plying EDSA and alight at the Shangrila Mall and walk from there as well. The building has 5 floors of paid parking except that it is on a first-come-first serve basis. So no guarantee you can get a slot. Alternative parking spaces we recommend is the Shangrila Mall or Gold Loop parking at the back of Red Planet Hotel.
