Desire, Dependency, and Dismantling the Patriarchy
Overview
Desire, Dependency, and Dismantling the Patriarchy
Everyone’s been talking about that Vogue article — the one that calls boyfriends “embarrassing.” But underneath the memes and online takes lies something older and deeper: the architecture of patriarchy, and how it shapes our desires, our self-image, and our tolerance for mediocrity.
In this 90-minute discussion, we’ll unpack what’s shifting in the cultural landscape of intimacy — why so many women feel both disillusioned and hopeful, what “crumbling patriarchy” actually means in psychological terms for both men and women, and how radical feminism offers not just critique but possibility.
Institutions — whether academic, political, or cultural — are failing to hold the discourse. And social media cannot be our only refuge. It’s up to us to lead, to create community, and to make sense of the massive wave of change that’s transforming how we love, relate, and imagine freedom. We all need to become leaders in this moment.
Expect a mix of reflection, conversation, and collective insight — a space to think, feel, and imagine together.
I aim for this event to be the first of a series on redefining trauma, ecopsychology, the surveillance state, psycho-symbolism, feminism, spirituality and freedom.
