Get ready to take a nostalgic stroll down memory lane as Michigan Design Center hosts "Designing the Classics"—a whimsical decorating event where childhood favorites meet the world of interior design.

Throughout the building, more than 20 creative vignettes—each inspired by a beloved children’s book—will be on display. From timeless stories to tales by some of the most notable children’s book authors, each space promises to charm and inspire with playful, storybook style.

Meet the designers behind each display, learn the stories that inspired their creations, and vote for your favorite vignette during this exciting open house.

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12 | 10 A.M. - 3 P.M.| MICHIGAN DESIGN CENTER

ADMISSION: a monetary donation to the If You Give a Child a Book campaign, presented in partnership with WXYZ Channel 7 and the Scripps Howard Fund. All funds raised will help provide free books to local students in need, giving them the chance to build home libraries of their own and encouraging a lifelong love of reading. (Please note: books will not be accepted.)

Where do I park?

There is ample free parking within steps of each of our entrances.

Who can attend?

All are welcome; Especially interior design lovers.

Admission to the event is a monetary donation, but can I bring a book too?

Unfortunately, no. Only monetary donations will be accepted. All funds raised will go to "If you give a child a book" campaign.

Can I come anytime between 10am- 3pm on Sept 12th?

Do you have a restaurant?

Yes, We have an on-site cafe, located near the D Lobby. The cafe is know for it's soups, salads and sandwiches.

Could you sum up event details?

Interior Designers pick their favorite children's book and create vignettes that are inspired by their book. There will be over 20 vignettes through out the building. Admission is a monetary donation to the charity "If you give a child a book" campaign. All are welcome to attend.

Do I need to rsvp?

No. Just show up!
