Lucia Leon is a Chicago-raised urban farmer and land steward in her 11th season of growing. She’s passionate about connecting people to the healing power of soil and plants. She does consulting, garden education, cut-flower production and landscape design and installation through her business, Lightly Farmed. She's also the Food Production Manager at El Paseo Community Garden.

Anita Johnson has been a dedicated leader of the 71st and Crandon Community Garden since its founding in 2016, when she joined as one of the original 200 volunteers. She became the primary Garden Lead in 2019 and has since played a key role in its growth. Located near the South Shore Cultural Center, the garden is a vibrant space where neighbors connect through nature, thanks to Anita’s ongoing commitment to community and collaboration.
