Description

So you have started building applications using Azure SQL DB and you now have a number of databases up and running. Although Microsoft sells SQL DB on the basis of minimal administrative effort, how do you now for sure how things are running and if you are getting the optimum value for money from your investment.

We'll start by showing some tools to estimate the starting size for your database and move it to SQL DB, including Elastic Pools as an option to optimise your spend. We'll also cover securing your database and highlight the differences compared to on-premises.

Once your application is running, we can start to gain insights and use these proactively monitor and manage your databases. We'll look at implementing automation and how to ensure High Availability and ensuring long-term recoverability of your SQL DB.

You will leave this session with a better story for your manager to convince him to move your workload to Azure and lower your total SQL Server costs.
