INDUSTRY One Foundation is a nonprofit, a creative platform, and an innovation incubator working to create global impact. Their physical space in central downtown Portland is a hub showcasing the energy that runs through our city, and the manifestation of creatives coming together to revitalize our city through more than just art. The foundation amplifies arists creating change through self expression, photography, film, food, music, performance, and more. The separate, creative brand consultancy INDUSTRY marries together strategy and creativity to make meaning for brands.

Natalia Garcia (she/her) applies her proven track record in community organizing along with her skills as a creative strategist to make it all happen. She works in a hybrid role driving work with both INDUSTRY One and INDUSTRY, and we're excited to talk about her unique role in the design world and how creativity and design skills can take many forms in service of our culture and communities.

Our 2025-26 Design Lecture Series explores, loosely, the theme of neighborhoods, and Natalia's practice is deeply rooted in the neighborhood we occupy here together. We invite you to take a closer look at the communities around you, whether mapped by shared interests or geographies, in all their wild variation: the intersections between us, the ways we differ, and how design builds connection.
