Fast paced presentations on contemporary ideas about design experimentation. Designers will present their work, provocations for the future and where they have pushed the boundaries in a dynamic, multiple-speaker event. Members of the OVGA’s Victorian Design Review Panel, leading design practitioners at the coalface of design and development, will be asked for their take on Design Experimentation and Place. Are we working in a space where there is room for innovation? What are the consequences of experimentation? When has it paid off and what are the challenges?

Dean Boothroyd, Principal at NH Architecture, on using analysis and research to illustrate the nature of Melbourne’s suburban condition.

Kate Dundas, Team Leader City Plans at the City of Melbourne, on how we can design our lives to work less and participate more.

Tony Styant-Browne, Anthony Styant-Browne Architect, on one affordable housing strategy for Victoria.

Claire Martin, Associate Director at OCULUS, on Landscape + The City: a postmodern sublime.

Tracey Avery, Curator + Arts & Heritage Consultant, on lessons from Australia’s design past.
