Join us on Saturday, October 11, 2025, for the dedication of three new public artworks by Paula Castillo: “Glyph” and “Trestle” on the Denver Art Museum campus and “Equis” near the Broadway Boulevard entrance of the Denver Central Library. These sculptures celebrate the layered history and ecology of Denver, honoring the contributions of mestizaje cultures to the city’s contemporary identity.
The morning will include an artist-led tour and dedication for each sculpture, and a special poetry reading of “Under a Golden Star” by guest poet Terry Mulert at the Denver Central Library. Celebrate these powerful new works that reflect Denver’s stories, communities and creativity.
Paula Castillo, an artist from rural New Mexico, creates intimate and large-scale sculptural and performative installations. The complex and malleable intersections between the physical and cultural landscape are the primary source of her inventiveness. She utilizes the literal and symbolic aspects of home places to experiment with ideas related to the broader American Southwest to create allegorical narratives that imagine the immense complexity involved for any entity. The all-encompassing goal of her work is to reveal our deep connections to each other and our environment.
