Instructor - Barbara Marder
Barbara Marder has been enameling since 1980 and has been a member of the international Enamelist Society since 1987. She is a retired visual arts educator from the Somerville Public Schools, has an MFA from Boston University, a BA from Skidmore college, and has studied with masters of enameling.
Class Description
In a combination of two enthralling materials, watch how to fuse glass to copper in this fast-paced one-day demonstration. You will get an overview of the Glass Enamel Studio at Artisans Asylum. You will get a walk-through of how to operate the furnaces, how to prepare the metal, and some simple techniques for using glass enamel.
Class Goals
Learn more about the Glass Enamel Studio donated by Barabra, the instructor, become familar with the equipmnet and how it works, as well as the possibilities of creating more art like this at Artisans Asylum.
Materials Provided
All of the glass powders are available for members to use with the idea of a small voluntary donation in a cash box to replace staple items.
