What to expect

With housing affordability being an urgent challenge across Europe, the European Commission is responding through the forthcoming Affordable Housing Plan, complemented by a European Strategy for Housing Construction aimed at strengthening the construction ecosystem. Digital innovation is central to this effort, with the potential to significantly reduce the time and cost of construction and renovation, ultimately making housing more accessible, affordable and also more sustainable.

As the industry seeks more efficient ways to collect, manage and share building data along the value chain, Digital Building Logbooks (DBLs) have emerged as a targeted solution to the sector’s longstanding data challenges. Given their wide-ranging benefits, including improved energy performance, enhanced public health, greater resource efficiency and transparency, as well as better risk assessment and financing options across the construction value chain, DBLs present a compelling case for broader policy integration and more widespread adoption across the sector.

Bringing together policymakers, industry leaders, and innovators, the discussions will focus on how DBLs can help reshape Europe’s built environment, making it sustainable and fairer – for all.

In this context, the event will explore a series of key questions, including the following:

What needs to happen at the EU and national policy levels to make DBLs a trusted and adopted tool across Europe?

What strategic value do they offer, how can their implementation reduce costs and unlock efficiency gains?

What role can DBLs play in advancing circular economy objectives and affordable housing goals?
