Description

DEMENTIA KNOWS NO BOUNDARIES: CREATING DEMENTIA FRIENDLY COMMUNITIES IN NORFOLK

Dementia can touch anyone’s life; regardless of where they live, their job, culture, race, age or gender - we are all part of a community.

We would be delighted if you could join us for a morning workshop on 20th October to discuss the development of Dementia Friendly Communities in Norfolk. The event will bring together representatives from the whole county, giving you an opportunity to hear from local case studies, get practical tips, find out about resources and share ideas with other organisations.

The Dementia Friendly Communities’ initiative strives to ensure that people with dementia feel supported to live well and remain part of the community – from taking a bus or going shopping, to accessing services, keeping up hobbies, continuing to work and taking part in social activities.

Alzheimer’s Society research shows that 850,000 people in the UK have a form of dementia, 225,000 will develop dementia this year, that’s one every three minutes - dementia remains an issue that we cannot afford to ignore. The support of our public services, local businesses and community members is essential to ensure that we can build Dementia Friendly Communities across the county.

So come along (register by clicking on the ‘Attend Event’ button), and for now please save this date - more detailed information will follow soon.
