Defensive Shotgun I - Marksmanship and Equipment

Shotguns are one of the most effective and inexpensive firearms available for home defense. Our Defensive Shotgun I – Marksmanship and Equipment course offers dynamic home defense training to enhance personal protection and home defense capabilities. It is designed to build a shooter’s critical skills, tactics, and marksmanship to successfully defend themselves from home invasion and personal danger.

Students will be able to explain and demonstrate the following:

• Firearms safety, including issues specific to shotguns

• Ammunition selection and patterning for optimum performance

• Shotgun equipment overview and key accessories

• Basic defensive shotgun marksmanship skills

• Safe storage and rapid access mechanisms

• Proper cleaning and maintenance

This is an intermediate skills shotgun handling course. The NRA Basic Shotgun Shooting course or similar shotgun experience is a prerequisite. This is an 8-10 hr. skills development course, and can be repeated as often as needed to achieve and maintain optimum skills and performance.
